Our Commitment to Food Safety

WFSD

(June 7, 2021) Today, we are celebrating World Food Safety Day! Coordinated by the World Health Organization, World Food Safety Day aims to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect, and manage foodborne risks. These initiatives focus on food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism, and sustainable development. As a carrier that specializes in food services, these initiatives are something we consider year-round. Our investments in equipment, facilities, and certifications in the food industry make us uniquely qualified to safely deliver everything from fresh seafood to medical supplies!

Ensuring we have the right equipment for the job is key to protecting the integrity of fresh and frozen products. Our refrigerated trailer and rail containers are outfitted with world-class temperature control systems, units designed to control the temperature of fresh, frozen, and heated shipments. Our team is also investing in remote temperature monitoring technology to further protect temperature sensitive freight.

WFSD(2)By strategically locating our refrigerated distribution centres in Moncton, Montreal, and Toronto, our team seamlessly moves fresh and frozen products throughout central and eastern Canada. Our reach does not stop there but extends to anywhere in North America thanks to the efforts of our logistics division, cross border team, and partnerships with other leading regional carriers.

Our relationship with the food industry is a major part of our history. Midland was the first Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point or HACCP certified carrier in Canada and even worked alongside the federal government during the launch of the program. This lengthy experience in the industry has allowed us to improve our process and provide a service that has been optimized to protect temperature-sensitive freight.

By constantly seeking out ways to improve our process, creating a strategic network, investing in the right equipment, and working with industry certifications bodies, our team is working to deliver products safely, and responsibly. Happy World Food Safety Day!
